Scorpio Full Moon
Today is May Day. Beltane. A day to celebrate the earth and the magical unfolding of life.
Everything is created out of darkness and defined by light. As we feel our way through the energy invitation of today’s Scorpio full moon, we remind ourselves that we continue to define our light by moving through our anxiety, our grief, our longing, our uncertainty.
Scorpio helps us refine our ability to carry on even as the dark edges of a world appear around every corner. When used artfully, it teaches us how to feel our angst without becoming caught in it. We expand our soul’s range when we allow for the inevitable messiness of the world and then carry on with a heart grown stronger, more humble, more deeply engaged in the whole fabric of human life.
The high notes of Scorpio find us when we can feel the angst of the world AND carry on. This Scorpio moon reminds us that the world can feel crushing at the same time it offers an infinitude of kindnesses. And that we are the pioneers in continuing to move through the rubble with the emotional intelligence of ancient beings who have chosen to show up for this time on earth, cosmic travelers mentoring the expansion of light into the dark.
I was thinking today of how J. R. R. Tolkien wrote “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Ring” books to create a living metaphor for all that happened when the world fell into its first world war. When Frodo was expressing his wish to have been born into a more peaceful time, Gandalf said: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” This is a line right out of the Scorpio handbook. Look into the dark and find a way to bring in the light.
May all Being find peace on this sacred Beltane evening, and always.
