Libra New Moon

Deborah O'Connor

A new moon offers us invitations to explore something we’ve yet to discover. If Libra is the lens for this moon, we’re being nudged toward expanding our ability to feel balanced, in and out of relationships.

We’re offered experiences that will guide us more sure-footedly into our interactions with ourselves and with others. Listen more, encourages this moon; listen more to yourself as well as to those around you. Allow for balance to show itself when the desire to push or pull dissolves into a wash of quieter engagement, into acceptance of the differences without so much angst attached to the outcome.

A caution: When we lean so far into someone else’s demands, we lose our sense of inner balance, so our moon helps us see the fine-line between respecting and engaging with others kindly, and falling too far into their need for us to shape shift and make them comfortable.

This moon wants you to know that it’s got you, it’s at your back as you find new ways to find equilibrium, first within yourself and then in the intimate encounters that find you during your day. Sometimes, offers our moon, the balance can only be found in moving away from someone, or some situation, still tugging and poking and asking you to abandon your self.

I think the essence of this Libra moon has to do with learning how to be present for each other without sacrificing our relationship to our own soul. Figuring out how to respect the spaces between us, and somehow allow for a peaceful acceptance, first of how we feel in the relationship and, second, of how we want to navigate it without giving up our values for the sake of a lop-sided balance. This tricky skill may be the next step in the evolution of human consciousness.

Autumn is a time when a subtle sense of enchantment is available for anyone ready to let go of the noisy world for awhile and find peace in the abundance of beauty everywhere we turn. If we notice that the elegance of the natural world arises from a universe of different shapes and colors and fragrances and sounds, we can better understand that balance doesn’t mean a lack of diversity or leaving behind the world.

When you look into the canopy of a tree, do you find chaos or balance? Libra might ask us to consider the possibility that there is no absolute answer to this question or to any other one.

Libra understands that paradox is the nature of reality. Maybe this moon can help us find balance by allowing for the imbalance, by acknowledging that the questions themselves are our guides.

And maybe we can engage that quixotic inner still point by learning how to balance the challenges we face with our engagement in the wonders the world so generously offers us, all the live-long day.

Wishing you and all Being peace. Deep peace of body and soul.

Perhaps the secret of living well
is not in having all the answers
but in pursuing unanswerable questions
in good company.
