Pisces New Moon

Pisces New Moon

Deborah O'Connor

The last sign in the zodiac, Pisces has always been responsible for reminding us that we are both earth and sky. It helps us feel our way into the unknown with something resembling faith in life.

Our Pisces new moon hopes you’ll notice the subtle, but powerful, energy available to lift your heart; energy that is an essential guide to your way into the rest of this chaotic year.

Pisces is recognized for its imagination, for its compassion and for its mysticism.

But as our moon nudges us to explore all those high Piscean notes, it also hopes we won’t overlook the essential awareness that we receive intuitively. I realize this might sound simplistic, a no-brainer. But the deep wisdom we feel rising out of our core is so often side-stepped as we follow the lead of our busy mind. The mind often blocks the deeper knowing because these intuitive feelings seem too quiet, too far afield from what the brain ’thinks’ is more safe.

In two days time, the cosmic weather is going to shift into rapid flow. Spring equinox this year will have you feeling a little like your boat moved from a quiet cove into a fast current.

So tonight’s new moon hopes we’ll re-new our relationship not only to our imaginations and our kindness, but that we’ll get better at paying attention to the intuitive genius of our feelings as they arrive at our mind’s doorstep. Our intuition is directly linked to our spirit and guides us from a deeper space than our brains can access.

One last note, says our moon. The most refined aspect of Pisces, and the most challenging, is its awareness of the peace our hearts can find in surrendering. I’m not talking about giving up or turning away from our responsibility to help lift the human experience. Surrender gives us a way to balance ourselves when we feel helpless, powerless, undone. Surrendering to what is impossible for us to shift in the moment gives us that moment to collect ourselves and get out of the way so that the mysterious creative energy force field of the universe can steer.

Pema Chodron has said: “Rather than being disheartened with uncertainty of life, we accept it and relax into it.” She didn’t mean that we find a couch and settle in for the duration. Watery and fluid Pisces simply asks us to find the flow of a situation and move through it. Keep moving through.

I do apologize if this note is redundant or confusing and I admit that I’ve written it at the close of a wildly chaotic day. One of many. I think you know what I mean. But I wanted to send something to you tonight in honor Pisces’ devotion to compassion, to the forgiveness that is at the core of love, to that which flows into human time from the spaciousness of all Light Being. Pisces fills us with awareness that we are being held, against all reason and for lack of any evidence, held in the embrace of something so profound that we’ll never be able to touch it with our mind and can only access it through our heart.

The Pisces moon’s heart breaks in grief for the world, and at the same time, it breaks us open. What we do with this opening is up to us.

For all the matters, may there be peace in the hearts of all being.
